Green Commitment
Being Earth-friendly Means Taking Responsibility SeriouslyInjection Works is made up of a committed team of people that understand the importance and long-term implications for ourselves and our children by living and working in an environmentally friendly manner.
Our most recent investment in 5 all new All-Electric Niigata molding machines allows Injection Works to manufacture high quality and consistent product for our customers while consuming up to 65% less electricity than traditional hydraulic oil-based machines.
Lighting:
By replacing 88 last-generation HID plant floor lighting fixtures with a comparable number of High Efficiency Florescent Lighting (many with motion-activation technology) has reduced our lighting energy consumption by over 40%. An added benefit to this investment is the superior Color Rendition Index rating of the new lighting, allowing our staff to visually identify possible manufacturing issues more quickly.
Compressed Air Delivery:
Installing a new Ingersoll-Rand 40 horsepower Variable Frequency Drive air compressor/drier system allowed Injection Works to retire a total of five older compressors. Twin benefits of this investment include a significant reduction in ambient noise levels in the compressor vicinity, and a reduction of power consumption related to the delivery of compressed air to our work cells by over 70%.
Raw Material Drier Systems:
New Matsui "Honeycomb" Dessicant Rotor Technology material driers dry materials in up to half the time of older drier systems. Along with energy-efficient construction and design, these driers can reduce the cost of raw material preparation by up to 20%, and also support faster product delivery lead times.
Water Cooling Tower System:
Installed on a custom-designed internal structural frame, our 145 Ton Cooling Tower System greatly reduces the cooling load on our four main chiller refrigeration systems. The ability to reduce the temperature of high volumetric flow rates of water by 10 degrees Fahrenheit, coupled with a fail-safe set of Variable Frequency Drive motors, this system is estimated to reduce our process water cooling energy consumption by over 40%.
More and more environmentally conscious companies are committed to ensuring that their products meet RoHS standards, and do not contain excessive levels of lead, cadmium, mercury hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants. Manufacturers need to understand the requirements of the RoHS Directive to ensure that their products, and their components, comply.
To help customers achieve their goal, Injection Works researches and suggests viable alternatives to non-RoHS resins for use in manufacturing their products. Once a new RoHS-certified resin is selected, Injection Works provides ongoing customer security with Certificates of Traceability documentation at no cost with every product shipment.
Plastics Recycling:
Over 95% of all plastic that is not used to manufacture customer product is transferred to one of our material recycling and reprocessing vendors. In addition to keeping this excess plastic safely outside of the waste stream, we eliminate the added cost of transportation and tipping fees that are incurred by our local trash facility.
Non-Plastics Recycling:
In order to continue to reduce our reliance on using our local trash facility for non-essential items, Injection Works engages outside vendors to assist us with the recycling of all paper, cardboard and scrap pallets. Since beginning this effort, Injection Works has diverted over 2,000# of paper and cardboard and over 1,500 scrap pallets from arriving at a landfill.
As awareness grows regarding the impact that commuting to work has on our individual carbon footprint, Injection Works offers the option of tele-commuting to those personnel who can perform many or all of their functions away from our manufacturing facility. Those that take advantage of this opportunity help us all by reducing traffic congestion, auto emissions and oil consumption.
