Plastic Injection Molding for the Electronics Industry
US-based Electrical and Electronic component manufacturer demands consistent product
quality and separation from legacy family transfer molds
This well-known electrical and electronic raceway and connector manufacturing firm needed an experienced and trusted injection molding company to supply it with consistently good quality parts at a very low cost. One challenge was that the existing tooling, which was already well past its intended service life, was designed as a 3 +3 + 3 cavity family mold with tunnel gating that required expensive operator labor to separate the various but similar components. Based on our long-term relationship of mutual support and trust with this customer, Injection Works provided a modest refurbishment to the tooling, and additionally invested in servo-driven product separation technology to interface with the mold in-cycle. The results of these efforts include a reduction in manufacturing labor and cost, reduced product delivery lead-time, near-perfect product separation and most importantly, a satisfied customer that remains confident in our abilities to support them over the long-term.
