How important are your quality requirements? For most Injection Works clients, the answer is “Mission Critical”.
Quality Assurance and Quality Control are an integral part of Injection Works’ Quality Management System and culture. Our QMS integrates human, technical, and material resources in a manner that results in optimum process consistency and the highest possible product quality standards. Coupled with a well-trained manufacturing team, our Quality Inspectors are on staff around the clock to ensure product quality and conformance.
Injection Works’ Quality Lab inspection and test equipment is calibrated annually by a third-party firm certified to ISO/IEC 17025 standards to ensure accuracy and proper performance.
Our Quality Assurance Lab
Injection Works’ extremely well-equipped and staffed QA Lab is designed to comprehensively inspect and evaluate manufactured components, typically beyond our customers’ own incoming inspection abilities. Our investments in this effort reflect Injection Works’ continual focus on protecting our customers’ interests and adding distinctive value to our relationships.
Read more below about our equipment and capabilities, that keep quality at the highest level for our customers’ exacting needs.
Precision Inspections
The centerpiece of our newly expanded Quality Lab is our OGP SmartScope Flash 500 CNC Dimensional Measuring System. This piece of equipment combines Vision, Laser, and CMM Touchprobe technology to enable highly precise product and tooling inspections within 2.5 micrometers or one ten-thousandth of an inch (0.0001”) on parts as large as 500mm x 450mm x 300mm (19.6” x 17.7” x 11.8”) directly from 3D model geometry. Inspection data is fed automatically into our ERP system’s SPC package to generate a wide variety of analysis and historical records.

OGP Optical Vision Inspection System
This short video above illustrates another application for Injection Works’ OGP Optical Vision Inspection System.
The grey product is a large industrial/commercial application funnel component that is part of a larger detergent or chemical dispensing system, has many mating parts, and has over 60 critical dimensional requirements that must be achieved in the molding process.
The first part of the video shows the OGP (AKA “The Hubbell”) describing the upper perimeter edge of the component, while the second part of the video shows the OGP selecting a deep-reach probe from the probe options available, and then taking and recording a number of data points from both the exterior and interior sections of the tube section of the funnel.
Note that all blue fixturing used to accurately position the grey molded part onto the inspection table were designed and fabricated in-house using our Stratasys 3-D Printer.
Meeting Exacting Tolerances
Serving another important role in our QA process is IW’s Brown & Sharp Gage 2000 CMM System and our Mitutoyo QuickScope Vision System which allow close tolerance single dimensions to be taken as needed “on-the-fly”.
Color Consistency and Product Quality Assurance
In addition to dimensional inspections, molded product quality is largely affected by color consistency and moisture levels in the material itself. Injection Works utilizes an X-Rite SP64 Photo Spectrophotometer as part of our process to inspect Masterbatches and molded products to customer color standards.
Our Arizona Instruments Computrac Max 4000XL Moisture Analyzer serves a vital role in process consistency by verifying resin pellets are within recommended moisture levels before processing, retaining valuable end product performance characteristics and visual appearance.
Quality Tested and Approved
Additionally, Injection Works employs Setra Electronic Scales with an array of capacities, a variety of customized product-specific inspection and performance testing equipment, a full complement of traditional inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges and more.
Injection Works also manufactures a variety of products recognized and/or approved by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and NSF.
