Subject Matter Experts
A Full Spectrum of Commodity and High-Performance Engineering Materials and Additives:
With over 30 years of injection molding experience, Injection Works is considered by many to be subject matter experts on the evaluation, selection and processing of virtually all thermoplastic resins available today.
Commodity resin examples include all variants of:
Polypropylene (PP), Polyethylene (PE), Polystyrene (PS) and Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC).
Engineered resin examples include all variants of:
Nylon, Polycarbonate (PC), PEEK, Liquid Crystal Polymer (LCP), Ultem (PEI), Acetal (POM), Polysulfone (PSU), Thermoplastic Elastomers (TPV), Cellulose Butyrate (CAB), as well as specialty alloy resins such as ABS/PC and PC/PBT.
In many cases, additives to base resins are used to provide enhanced product performance, improve processing efficiency or to allow for cost reductions. Common fillers in use at Injection Works include:
Fiberglass (both Long and Short Fiber) – up to 50%
Talc – to provide dimensional stability
Ultra-violet stabilizers – to protect products designed for outdoor service
from sun-induced degradation
Anti-microbial additives – to enhance germ resistance of molded components
Lubricants and Slip Agents – to help products eject from the mold without deformation and to reduce surface and thread coefficients of friction.
Many resins in use at Injection Works are FDA and NSF compliant, especially in products that touch food and water supply sources. Also, for many of our customers, we assist with converting from originally-specified non-ROHS materials to ROHS-certified materials to assure product compliance with governmental and industry mandates.
Colorants are an important component in many of the products Injection Works manufactures. In fact, a number of our customers consider colors, and specifically lot-to-lot color matching to be absolutely critical. Injection Works relies on a number of US-based suppliers of certified color concentrates for use in our processes, and we confirm the desired end-product color match with our X-Rite Color Spectrophotometer. When needed, we supply our clients with inspection reports confirming that end-products have been inspected and fall within pre-determined L * A * B targets.
